SERVICE: I have eaten at this restaurant several times for both lunch and dinner and to tell the truth the service has never been all that great. Not bad mind you but the kind of service that causes you to remember who helped you or what you ate. Never my top pick but it's close to where dad lives.

AMBIENCE: To get a truly great score from me your restaurant has to have a pulse or your taqueria has to offer outdoor seating, music and local flaer. This joint is in a strip mall in the back, kinda dark with no pulse. Unfortunately that all adds up to below average for me.

APPEARANCE: Not outstanding , the double shot of sour cream and being a to flat on the plate kinda killed it for me. Chefs take note: really great nachos have layers and are mounded. All that and the lack of salsa and jalapenos dropped them below average.

TASTE: The taste is nice but as you can tell in my voice, there just wasn't anything that exciting about it. Having to maneuver the large chunks chicken detracted as well. They really should ask if you want the extra sour cream or salsa too. I wanted to like the chips a bit more.... a dash of salt and a tad denser maybe would have made them contenders. That said they were much better than half of nachos I reviewed this year.

VALUE: At $9.95 it's not bad for the area, then again this is not up to par with other Mexican restaurants in the area as well. Palo Alto is mostly very upscale. And as compared to the portion size and amount of meat.... just so so in my book.

It's so cool getting a call from dad and he wants Mexican food!!! Dad's buying nachos... Unfortunately these were nothing special, but that does not mean they were bad at all. Nachos are always a good time and hanging out with dad is the bonus.
