SERVICE: Very good service, bordering on an 8 score. From the beer selection to our trouble selecting from the menu the staff were helpful all the way even with a fairly full venue. Beer delivered to the table and the food quickly and hot. They even offered to turn down the AC for mom.
AMBIENCE: I love a bar that has a pulse. Pangea feels more like a hipster college bar than a neighborhood craft beer and restaurant and I like that. The tasting room is a cool touch. I also like the chalkboard beer list, a necessity given they change frequently. One of the cool plusses is Gunther's Ice Cream across the street.
APPEARANCE: Not outstanding in the looks department but I will say that the serving platter was cool and if you like your toppings on the side, the built-in cups holding sour cream and jalapenos were spot on! As much as I liked the taste of the red sauce for looks I would prefer diced tomatoes or both. I do consider what the green of the guacamole would do in my scoring so in the end just good.
TASTE: Some solid chips and chicken with a tanging red sauce gave this platter a bump. The one knock I had to deliver was the lack of cheese. If you look at previous scored you will find this platter would be near the top if the cheese was more on spot; I would have to go to an 8. The beer was good, very drinkable and in the same vein the nachos were very edible. And as for the beer, it really did elevate the entire experience and taste.
VALUE: At $12 the value is a little off mark when looking at the proportions, amount of meat and location. Sacramento is not like San Francisco and I feel bar food should be more of a bargain when paying high prices for the craft beers.
